Primary 6 Common Entrance Examination 2025

Primary 6 Common Entrance Examination is an annual examination conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) of Federal Government Unity Colleges (FGCs). The examination is held in May or June of each year.

National Common Entrance Examination Eligibility

To be eligible to sit for the NCEE, candidates must:

  • Only final year pupils of primary schools who shall not be less than ten years are eligible.
  • All Candidates are now required to choose a school from the six (6) geopolitical zones across the country.
  • Parents and guardians must fill out and complete the registration for their wards on the NCCE portal.
    Pay four thousand and six hundred naira (₦4,600).

Registration for the NCEE is usually done online through the NECO website. The registration period usually starts in February or March of the year of the examination.

  1. Open your internet browser
    Launch your Chrome or Safari browser on your smartphone
  2. Visit the NCEE registration portal
  3. Go to https://ncee.neco.gov.ng/ in your internet browser
  4. Click on Register Here
  5. Select the blue text saying Register Here to begin the application process
  6. Enter your personal information to create your Account
  7. Create an account by providing your valid email address, full name, phone number, and password
  8. Click on Register
  9. Click on the blue bar to register your NCEE account
  10. Pay the registration fee
  11. Pay the registration fee using your ATM card online
  12. Fill in the application
  13. Enter the correct details to fill out the application form
  14. Submit your application
  15. Click on Submit

National Common Entrance Examination Subjects

The NCEE consists of the following subjects:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science
  4. Social Studies
  5. Yoruba (for candidates in the South-West geo-political zone)
  6. Igbo (for candidates in the South-East geo-political zone)
  7. Hausa (for candidates in the North-West and North-East geo-political zones)
  8. Efik/Ibibio/Annang (for candidates in the South-South geo-political zone)
  9. Pidgin English (for candidates in the Niger Delta region)

The NCEE is usually held in two sessions:

Session 1: 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Session 2: 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm

The NCEE results are usually released in August of the year of the examination. Candidates can check their results online through the NECO website.

The fee for the Result Checker token has now been updated and reviewed to six hundred and twenty-five naira (₦625) per token.
